Daily Star - Ministry Of Displaced Launches Website

Daily Star staff

BEIRUT: The Ministry of the Displaced launched its website www.ministryofdisplaced.gov.lb, during a meeting held Wednesday. The website was formed with the help of the State Ministry for Administrative Development and holds information about indemnities for the 1975-90 Civil War and the summer 2006 war with Israel. Minister of the Displaced Akram Chehayeb hoped the website would help the displaced follow up on their files, noting that 95 percent of the 2006 summer war indemnities files have been dealt with. “The main issue concerning both wars is money because the political problems the [ministry] was created to solve are no longer an obstacle,” he added. State Minister for Administrative Development Mohammad Fneish said he was committed to keeping the promise made in the policy statement about modernizing administrations and ministries. – The Daily Star
