Now Lebanon - Abboud casts doubt on STL’s probe - November 2, 2010

Tourism Minister Fadi Abboud said on Tuesday that “the justice sought by the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) is not clear.”
He told LBCI television that “there is a possibility to [politicize] the tribunal’s evidence, despite the court’s professional probe.”
“President Michel Sleiman, Speaker Nabih Berri and Democratic Gathering bloc leader MP Walid Jumblatt are moving to foster peace[in Lebanon].”
Tension is high in Lebanon after reports said that the STL will soon issue its indictment in the 2005 assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri. There are fears that, should the court indict Hezbollah members, it could lead to clashes similar to those of the 2008 May Events – when gunmen led by Hezbollah took over half of Beirut.
