The Lebanese Center for Human Rights (CLDH) is a local non-profit, non-partisan Lebanese human rights organization in Beirut that was established by the Franco-Lebanese Movement SOLIDA (Support for Lebanese Detained Arbitrarily) in 2006. SOLIDA has been active since 1996 in the struggle against arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance and the impunity of those perpetrating gross human violations.

Now Lebanon - Bellemare reportedly cancels US visit - November 2, 2010









Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) Prosecutor Daniel Bellemare has called off his upcoming trip to the United States in order to follow up on last week’s incident in the Beirut southern suburb of Dahiyeh, An-Nahar newspaper reported.Bellemare was due to hold meetings at the UN Headquarters in New York and at Harvard University in Massachusetts this week but ended up having to cancel his trip, the daily said.“The STL prosecutor stayed in The Hague to deal with last week’s incident.”On Wednesday, a team of STL investigators was attacked by a group of around 30 women at a gynecology clinic in south Beirut. The investigators had scheduled a meeting with Dr. Iman Charara the physician who runs the clinic.
