The Lebanese Center for Human Rights (CLDH) is a local non-profit, non-partisan Lebanese human rights organization in Beirut that was established by the Franco-Lebanese Movement SOLIDA (Support for Lebanese Detained Arbitrarily) in 2006. SOLIDA has been active since 1996 in the struggle against arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance and the impunity of those perpetrating gross human violations.

Now Lebanon - Alain Aoun wants cabinet to complete false witnesses’ issue - November 2, 2010









Change and Reform bloc MP Alain Aoun said on Tuesday that his bloc is seeking to finalize the issue of “false witnesses” during Wednesday’s cabinet session.He told the Voice of Lebanon (VOL) radio station that the “false witnesses” file obstructs the work of the cabinet, adding that the Lebanese judiciary should deal with the matter.The “false witnesses” file tops the agenda of the cabinet session set for this Wednesday.March 8 politicians have called for the cabinet to task the Justice Council with investigating the issue of witnesses who gave unreliable testimonies to the international probe into former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri’s 2005 assassination.However, March 14 figures have said that the regular judiciary should handle the issue.
