The Lebanese Center for Human Rights (CLDH) is a local non-profit, non-partisan Lebanese human rights organization in Beirut that was established by the Franco-Lebanese Movement SOLIDA (Support for Lebanese Detained Arbitrarily) in 2006. SOLIDA has been active since 1996 in the struggle against arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance and the impunity of those perpetrating gross human violations.

Now Lebanon - Cabinet vote on false witnesses’ issue out of the question, says Qadiri - November 2, 2010









Lebanon First bloc MP Ziad al-Qadiri said on Tuesday that a vote on the issue of “false witnesses” during Wednesday’s session is unlikely.He told the Voice of Lebanon (VOL) radio station that the ministers will probably postpone the discussions on the issue for a subsequent cabinet meeting.The “false witnesses” file tops the agenda of the cabinet session set for this Wednesday.March 8 politicians have called for the cabinet to task the Justice Council with investigating the issue of witnesses who gave unreliable testimonies to the international probe into former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri’s 2005 assassination.However, March 14 figures have said that the regular judiciary should handle the issue.
