Now Lebanon - Jumblatt: STL is a tool to implement Resolution 1559 - November 11, 2010

The STL is politicized and is a tool for the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1559, Progressive Socialist Party (PSP) leader MP Walid Jumblatt said on Thursday evening.
Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah is absolutely right to affirm the importance of Saudi-Syrian efforts to resolve tensions in Lebanon, Jumblatt told Al-Manar television, adding that some in Lebanon are allying with American envoys in an effort to obstruct such efforts.
Tension is high in Lebanon due to controversy over the UN probe into the 2005 assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri. There are fears that should the court indict Hezbollah members, it could lead to clashes similar to those of the 2008 May Events—when gunmen led by the party took over half of Beirut.
Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah has repeatedly said that the STL is an “Israeli project” that will indict members of his party.

  1. These are all political talks. Everyone, EVERYONE knows that Hizbollah is responsible for the killing as well as undermining any progress or modernism of Lebanon, in accordance to shia Islam, Iran and Syria..
