The Daily Star - Employees’ Cooperative workers continue strike, June 15 2012

BEIRUT: Workers at the State Employees’ Cooperative continued their open-ended strike Friday in protest at the Cabinet's failure to discuss a draft law aimed at improving their status.
In a statement, the workers said that their strike aimed at "condemning and rejecting the Cabinet’s failure to approve their demand, which was listed on the government's agenda in [this week's] session."
They added that last week's strike was postponed to give the Cabinet time to consult.
At the Zahle and Baalbek branches, employees turned away applicants for educational allowances and medical aid, the National News Agency reported.
The protesters called for improved benefits, including those associated with retirement, a demand they said they had previously made of the Cabinet, but to no avail.
