The Lebanese Center for Human Rights (CLDH) is a local non-profit, non-partisan Lebanese human rights organization in Beirut that was established by the Franco-Lebanese Movement SOLIDA (Support for Lebanese Detained Arbitrarily) in 2006. SOLIDA has been active since 1996 in the struggle against arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance and the impunity of those perpetrating gross human violations.

Daily Star - First Lady Honors Volunteers At Childrens' Center

BEIRUT: First lady Wafaa Sleiman marked the occasion of Mothers’ Day on Sunday with 50 women volunteering at the Lebanese Association of SOS Children’s Village’s (SOS).
The ceremony was held at the presidential palace in Baabda in the presence of MP Bahia Hariri, Austrian Ambassador to Lebanon Eva Maria Ziegler and 50 women volunteering at SOS as well as their adopted children.
The entertainment group Cirque du Liban presented a show during the celebration and Sleiman offered each mother a gift to show her appreciation for their hard work.
“I have a special place in my heart for these women who have given so much of their time and have opened their arms to embrace children who have had a difficult life,” Sleiman said.
She then praised the values of motherhood and described it as a “sacred desire for unconditional giving.”
Sleiman also addressed the adopted children, telling them they had a bright and hopeful future ahead. “At the children’s villages your wings will grow and you will gain values, education and the love of a family. These gifts will stay with you all your lives,” she said.
Head of SOS Afifa al-Dirani Arsanios thanked Sleiman for her attention andcare as well as for her constant support of all social classes. – The Daily Star
