The Lebanese Center for Human Rights (CLDH) is a local non-profit, non-partisan Lebanese human rights organization in Beirut that was established by the Franco-Lebanese Movement SOLIDA (Support for Lebanese Detained Arbitrarily) in 2006. SOLIDA has been active since 1996 in the struggle against arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance and the impunity of those perpetrating gross human violations.

The Daily Star - Estonia thanks Rifi for help freeing hostages - August 11, 2011


BEIRUT: The Estonian Foreign Ministry filed a memo thanking Internal Security Forces Director Ashraf Rifi for his efforts and assistance along with ISF members during the period when seven Estonian tourists in Lebanon were detained as hostages.
“It is my pleasure to send you this memo after the release of the seven kidnapped Estonian who were detained in Baalbek valley for 114 days.
They returned home safely with their families,” the National News Agency quoted Estonian Foreign Minister Urmas Paet as saying in his letter to Rifi.
The seven Estonian tourists were snatched in March by gunmen in the eastern Bekaa Valley as they re-entered the country on bicycles from Syria.
