The Lebanese Center for Human Rights (CLDH) is a local non-profit, non-partisan Lebanese human rights organization in Beirut that was established by the Franco-Lebanese Movement SOLIDA (Support for Lebanese Detained Arbitrarily) in 2006. SOLIDA has been active since 1996 in the struggle against arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance and the impunity of those perpetrating gross human violations.

Now Lebanon - Murr, Hamadeh and Chidiac summoned to address assassination attempts against them - August 11, 2011


An-Nahar newspaper reported on Thursday that former ministers Elias al-Murr, Marwan Hamadeh and journalist and activist May Chidiac were summoned to Prosecutor General Said Mirza’s office to address matters related to assassination attempts against them.

Murr, Hamadeh and Chidiac will meet with Mirza separately, the report also said, adding that they will meet with a UN delegation and an international commission assigned by the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL).

Chidiac and Murr survived separate assassination attempts in 2005 and Hamadeh survived one in 2004.
The STL indicted four members of the Iranian- Syrian-backed Hezbollah group in connection to the Hariri murder, Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah ruled out their arrest.

Mirza informed the STL that “so far none of the accused has been detained,” a statement issued by the STL said.
