April 1, 2010 - Now Lebanon - Fayyad says Hezbollah expressed his willingness to cooperate with STL

Loyalty to the Resistance bloc MP Ali Fayyad told OTV television on Thursday that Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah expressed in an interview on Wednesday his willingness to cooperate with the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL).

Nasrallah said Wednesday that his party will cooperate with the STL, otherwise, it will be suspected of being behind murder of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri.

“Attempts to politicize the STL are to destabilize the internal situation of Lebanon,” said Fayyad, and added that individuals called for interrogation are not necessarily involved in the case.

Regarding Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblatt’s visit to Damascus, he said that Jumblatt’s political position is being shifted, and that his position would be closer to the Resistance and Syria.

Fayyad also said that Hezbollah’s stand – facilitating Jumblatt’s visit to Syria – in this regard aims to strengthen the Resistance and establish balance in Lebanon that would help protect the internal political stability.
