April 1, 2010 - Now Lebanon - National Bloc criticizes Nasrallah’s Wednesday statement

The National Bloc issued a statement on Thursday criticizing Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah’s statements during his Wednesday interview with Al-Manar television.

Nasrallah confirmed earlier reports that the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) summoned Hezbollah members as part of the tribunal's investigation into the murder of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri.

However, Nasrallah said that they were summoned as witnesses and not as suspects, adding that he refuses any accusation against the party or any of its members.

The National Bloc, in turn, said that “those who are not suspects [in the Hariri case] have nothing to fear,” adding that Nasrallah is operating as an entity separate from the state.
