The Lebanese Center for Human Rights (CLDH) is a local non-profit, non-partisan Lebanese human rights organization in Beirut that was established by the Franco-Lebanese Movement SOLIDA (Support for Lebanese Detained Arbitrarily) in 2006. SOLIDA has been active since 1996 in the struggle against arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance and the impunity of those perpetrating gross human violations.

Now Lebanon - Detainee admits spying on president for Israel, Al-Akhbar reports

An anonymous source told Al-Akhbar newspaper in an interview published on Friday that the suspect who was detained last week on charges of spying for Israel in the hometown of President Michal Sleiman, Amchit, admitted that he was supplying Tel Aviv with information on Sleiman’s residence there.

The man also admitted that he was tasked with monitoring Iranian ships entering Lebanese waters as well as spying on a vessel owned by a business man close to Hezbollah, said the daily. However, it did not elaborate further.
