Collaborator with Israel gets lifetime of hard labor

By The Daily Star

BEIRUT: The Permanent Military Tribunal sentenced a man Monday to a lifetime of hard labor for collaborating with the Israeli intelligence. Youssef Mohammad al-Hajj Ali was sentenced to a lifetime of hard labor for providing the Mossad with security information, especially during the 2006 summer war. But Ali said during probes Hizbullah was aware of his collaboration with the Mossad and the party had asked him to pursue his activity and to coordinate with Hizbullah. The tribunal also postponed the trial of 23 people suspected of belonging to the militant groups Al-Qaeda and Fatah al-Islam until July 8. The tribunal also postponed the trial of three Palestinians suspected of plotting terrorist attacks in Lebanon. – The Daily Star
