Now Lebanon - As-Safir: Three arrested in Lebanon for 'smuggling arms' to Syria - August 10, 2011

A security source told As-Safir newspaper that three people were arrested in Lebanon after they were suspected of “smuggling weapons” to Syrian non-state groups.
A weapons’ shipment heading to Syria was uncovered recently in Lebanon, said the daily.
The source – who spoke on condition of anonymity – said that the people involved in the operation “belong to a party in the March 14 coalition.”
“The three suspects were identified by their initials, W.S., S.S. and A.A. They were arrested and transferred to [Tripoli’s] Qobba prison.”
The source also said: “The mastermind behind the operation is still on the loose and is close to a March 14 party.”
The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported on Sunday that the Syrian authorities “caught a car coming from Lebanon…and carrying great quantity of ammunition and weapons.”
Syria's government has sought to crush the democracy movement with force, leaving at least 2,059 people dead, including 391 members of the security forces, according to the Syrian Observatory.
