Now Lebanon - Protests in support of Syrian people held in Lebanon’s Bekaa - August 09, 2011

Dozens of people marched in support of Syrian pro-democracy protestors in Lebanon’s Bekaa.
“Dozens of people marched from several Bekaa towns toward the Masnaa [border area] to support the Syrian people and to denounce the crackdown on protests,” the Voice of Lebanon (100.5) radio station reported.
The report said that the protestors gathered near the Lebanese-Syrian borders in the Masnaa area and chanted slogans against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
Security forces heavily deployed in the area, the report added.
It also said that several Bekaa figures will call for holding a rally to support the Syrian people on Friday.
Lebanon's political scene is split between supporters of Syrian regime, led by Hezbollah, and a pro-Western camp headed by western-backed Saad Hariri.
Assad’s troops have cracked down on protests against almost five decades of Baath rule which broke out mid-March, killing over 2,000 people and triggering a torrent of international condemnation.
