The Lebanese Center for Human Rights (CLDH) is a local non-profit, non-partisan Lebanese human rights organization in Beirut that was established by the Franco-Lebanese Movement SOLIDA (Support for Lebanese Detained Arbitrarily) in 2006. SOLIDA has been active since 1996 in the struggle against arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance and the impunity of those perpetrating gross human violations.

Naharnet - Zahle Prison Mutiny 2 Inmates Cut their Veins - January 05,2010

A mutiny has been reported inside a prison in the eastern town of Zahle overnight after a number of inmates set fire to mattresses and cut electric wires, resulting in a power outage.Local media on Tuesday said prisoners Abdullah al-Yamani and Mohsem al-Husseini cut the veins of their wrists in protest.They said two other inmates suffocated from smoke inhalation. While one of them was treated inside Zahle jail, the other was taken to hospital for treatment.
