BEIRUT: A mutiny was reported inside a prison in the Bekaa town of Zahle Monday night after a number of inmates set fire to mattresses and cut electric wires, resulting in a power outage. Media reports on Tuesday said prisoners Abdullah al-Yamani and Mohsem al-Husseini cut the veins of their wrists in protest. They said two other inmates suffocated from smoke inhalation. One of them was treated inside the jail, while the other was rushed to hospital for treatment. – The Daily Star
