Now Lebanon - Qassem Hashem: Attack on STL investigators is sign of things to come - October 28, 2010

Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) investigators broke the rules of the Lebanese judiciary and violated people’s sanctity, and what happened in Dahiyeh on Wednesday is “a message of the pulse of things to come,” Development and Liberation bloc MP Qassem Hashem said on Thursday, according to the National News Agency (NNA).A group of women charged at STL investigators at a Beirut gynecology clinic in Dahiyeh on Wednesday morning and grabbed a briefcase from them. Afterward the STL condemned the attack and said that its investigators had arranged to interview clinic owner Dr. Iman Charara with approval from the Lebanese authorities, the Doctors Syndicate and Dr. Charara herself.“The reasons were not known for [why the investigation delt] directly with Lebanese, especially doctors who possess immunity,” Hashem said, adding that “pillaging the judiciary and Lebanese institutions is impermissible no matter the excuse.”
