Now Lebanon - Berri’s main concern: Finalize ‘false witnesses’ issue - November 9, 2010

Speaker Nabih Berri said that finalizing the issue of “false witnesses” is a top priority.
In an interview with Al-Liwaa newspaper published on Monday, Berri said that the cabinet should resolve the issue of “false witnesses” in its upcoming session “even if it had to put it up for a vote.”
“We will accept the results [of the vote] even if we lose and even if the file is transferred to regular judiciary bodies.”
The ministers are expected to discuss on Wednesday the issue of witnesses who gave unreliable testimonies to the investigation of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri’s 2005 assassination.
March 8 politicians have called for the cabinet to task the Justice Council with investigating the issue of “false witnesses.”
However, March 14 figures have said that the regular judiciary should handle the matter.
