The Future bloc released a statement Tuesday following its weekly meeting that creating tension by issuing “threatening statements” before the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) issues its indictment will not yield any results.Tensions are high in Lebanon after reports said that the STL will soon issue its indictment in the 2005 assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri. March 8 figures are calling for the abolition of the tribunal.
Things will be clarified when the indictment is issued, said the statement, adding, “Attempts to mislead the investigation will be revealed and punitive procedures can be taken.”Members of the Future bloc commented on Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s visit to Lebanon, saying they hope it improves bilateral relations.Ahmadinejad arrived in Beirut last Wednesday on an official visit that took him to Lebanon’s border with Israel. He left the country on Thursday night.
