Now Lebanon - Ogassapian says regular judiciary should tackle “false witnesses” - November 9, 2010

Minister of State Jean Ogassapian said on Tuesday that regular judicial bodies should deal with the issue of “false witnesses.”
He told the Voice of Lebanon (VOL) radio station that there are political motives behind the requests to deal with the issue.
“We are looking forward to engaging in more talks [to resolve disputes].”
This week’s cabinet session is scheduled to take place on Wednesday. The ministers are expected to discuss the issue of witnesses who gave unreliable testimonies to the investigation of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri’s 2005 assassination.
March 8 politicians have called for the cabinet to task the Justice Council with investigating the issue of “false witnesses.”
However, March 14 figures have said that the regular judiciary should handle the matter.
