Now Lebanon - Al-Liwaa: Cabinet discusses possible temporary shutdown of LBCI - October 26, 2010

Al-Liwaa newspaper reported on Tuesday that during Monday’s cabinet session the ministers addressed the possibility of closing down LBCI television for one month “for violating the laws of audio-visual media [by broadcasting a controversial] talk show episode aired earlier this month.”

This comes in reference to an episode of the Kalam al-Nass talk show, which featured a discussion between several figures with different political and sectarian backgrounds. Tension and political dialogue escalated over the current domestic situation in Lebanon during the episode.

Parties such as Hezbollah and Al-Jamaa al-Islamiya condemned the episode, calling for legal measures to be taken against LBCI.
