Now Lebanon - Abra clashes suspects to be tried July 15, June 06, 2014

The Permanent Military Court set July 15th as the date of the trial of prisoners indicted of being involved in the clashes that took place last year between gunmen affiliated with Sunni cleric Sheikh Ahmad al-Assir and the Lebanese army in Sidon’s Abra, NOW’s correspondent in South Lebanon reported on Friday.

“The file was divided into several files due to the large number of detainees,” the report added.

Last month, inmates at the infamous Roumieh prison, detained for involvement in the Abra clashes in June 2013, threatened to go on a hunger strike if their cases are not expedited and stated that they had no issues with the Lebanese army.
