The Lebanese Center for Human Rights (CLDH) is a local non-profit, non-partisan Lebanese human rights organization in Beirut that was established by the Franco-Lebanese Movement SOLIDA (Support for Lebanese Detained Arbitrarily) in 2006. SOLIDA has been active since 1996 in the struggle against arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance and the impunity of those perpetrating gross human violations.

Now Lebanon - Makari denies Al-Akhbar’s report on Hariri murder, September 17, 2011

Deputy Speaker Farid Makari denied on Monday Al-Akhbar’s report entitled “Makari: Israel knows what was being planned for [former Prime Minister] Rafik Hariri.”“We will clarify to [Al-Akhbar the statements] because what it published was different from what I said,” Makari told LBC television.Local newspaper Al-Akhbar reported that Makari said: “I know who killed Hariri, but I will not say who.”The daily also said that Makari “hinted” that the Syrian regime is involved in assassinating Hariri, also quoting the deputy speaker as saying: “I am sure that US and Israeli intelligence knew something this big would happen in Lebanon, and they let it happen,” in reference to the 2005 assassination of Hariri.Four Hezbollah members have been indicted by the Special Tribunal for Lebanon probing the Hariri murder. However, the Shia group strongly denied the charges and refuses to cooperate with the court.
