The Lebanese Center for Human Rights (CLDH) is a local non-profit, non-partisan Lebanese human rights organization in Beirut that was established by the Franco-Lebanese Movement SOLIDA (Support for Lebanese Detained Arbitrarily) in 2006. SOLIDA has been active since 1996 in the struggle against arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance and the impunity of those perpetrating gross human violations.

Naharnet - Hague Discusses with Miqati Govt. Efforts to Aid Syrian Refugees, July 26 2012


British Foreign Secretary William Hague on Thursday stressed to Prime Minister Najib Miqati his country’s support for Lebanon and inquired about the efforts that are being made by the Lebanese government to aid the Syrian refugees, the premier’s office said.
Miqati is in London to attend the opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympic Games. He is accompanied by Youth and Sports Minister Faisal Karami.
According to Miqati’s office, Hague lauded the dialogue sessions held in Lebanon, hoping they will continue for the sake of the country.
The British official also stressed the importance of preserving stability in southern Lebanon, announcing that his government will double its aid to the Lebanese army.
Hague said the issue of aid would be discussed during Army Commander General Jean Qahwaji’s planned visit to Britain in September.
