July 28, 2010 - Now Lebanon - Critics can take objections straight to STL, says March 14

The March 14 General Secretariat issued a statement on Wednesday renewing its faith in the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL). It said STL critics should take their objections straight to the tribunal and use the proper legal mechanism to do so.

Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah earlier this month questioned the credibility of the investigation into the 2005 assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri, calling it an “Israeli project” designed to incite sectarian conflict in the country.

March 14 also praised PM Saad Hariri’s decision to deploy more Lebanese army troops to South Lebanon.

An-Nahar newspaper reported on Tuesday that contingents from the Lebanese Armed Forces’ (LAF) 5th Brigade were deployed to border areas in the western and central areas of the South to bolster troops there.

The statement also condemned Israeli threats against Lebanon. Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak warned Monday his country will strike directly at Lebanese institutions if Hezbollah launches rockets across the border.
