July 28, 2010 - Now Lebanon - STL is a serious probe, says Jarrah

Lebanon First bloc MP Jamal al-Jarrah told ANB television on Wednesday that the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) is a serious judicial investigation supported by evidence.

Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah earlier this month questioned the credibility of the investigation into the 2005 assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri, calling it an “Israeli project” designed to incite sectarian conflict in the country.

Jarrah called on Hezbollah to wait for the STL to issue its indictment before jumping to conclusions. It is rumored the indictment will be issued before the end of the year.

Jarrah said PM Saad Hariri met with Marada Movement leader MP Sleiman Franjieh on Tuesday to assure him that he will confront any attempt to incite sedition in the country following the STL’s indictment.
