July 28, 2010 - Now Lebanon - Qanso says US embassy wanted Baath Party implicated in Hariri murder

Baath Party MP Assem Qanso told Al-Manar television on Wednesday that the US Embassy in Lebanon ordered March 14 alliance figures to accuse his party of involvement in the 2005 murder of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri.

Qanso said the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) has investigated 38 Baath Party members.

“[Rafik] Hariri told me that Kataeb and Lebanese Forces members will never set foot in his house as long as he is alive,” Qanso said, adding that this is the reason he offered condolences to Lebanon First bloc MP Bahia Hariri’s house in Saida.
