The daily Star - Teen confesses to staging his kidnapping in Baalbek, March 12, 2012

BEIRUT: An 18-year-old from the Baalbek village of Brital who told the police he was kidnapped by armed men confessed that he had staged the kidnapping with two other men so they could share the ransom, according to the Internal Security Forces.
A statement issued by the ISF Saturday said the teenager was kidnapped Wednesday in the Baalbek area of Ain Bourdai by armed men demanding $100,000 in ransom.
Ali Ahmad al-Mukh was released the following day in Baalbek and reported his kidnapping to the police.
During questioning, the boy confessed that he faked the kidnapping with two men in order to split the ransom but later backed down on the agreement and returned home. The two accomplices were arrested and confessed to the crime.
