The Lebanese Center for Human Rights (CLDH) is a local non-profit, non-partisan Lebanese human rights organization in Beirut that was established by the Franco-Lebanese Movement SOLIDA (Support for Lebanese Detained Arbitrarily) in 2006. SOLIDA has been active since 1996 in the struggle against arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance and the impunity of those perpetrating gross human violations.

NOW Lebanon - NGO condemns draft law on online media, March 7, 2012


Maharat Foundation on Wednesday condemned the draft law on online media submitted to the cabinet by Information Minister Walid al-Daouq.
“The draft law will be discussed in cabinet without taking the opinion of the parties competent of organizing the media or taking in consideration the opinion of the experts in the field,” the statement issued by Maharat said.
It also said that “the draft law contains loose expressions that are defined with an unprofessional and inconsistent manner… which can cause ambiguity and puts [at risk] the freedom of media.”
It also said that the obliging websites  to obtain a permit “can limit the freedom of online communication.”
