The Lebanese Center for Human Rights (CLDH) is a local non-profit, non-partisan Lebanese human rights organization in Beirut that was established by the Franco-Lebanese Movement SOLIDA (Support for Lebanese Detained Arbitrarily) in 2006. SOLIDA has been active since 1996 in the struggle against arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance and the impunity of those perpetrating gross human violations.

The Daily Star - Migrant domestic worker found dead in Tripoli home, March 20, 2015



A domestic migrant worker was found dead in her employer’s residence in north Lebanon Thursday, security sources said.

Malika Begum, a domestic worker from Bangladesh, was found hanging in her room.

Internal Security Forces inspected the residence in Tripoli’s Qibbeh neighbourhood, where they interrogated the her employers.

Prelimenary information suggests that Begum committed suicide.

According to LBC, Begum had asked to return to her home country before her death.
