Daily Star - Two teenagers wounded as they escape abduction, October 1 2012

BEIRUT: Two teenagers were wounded over the weekend in the southern village of Majdalyoun as they thwarted an attempt to kidnap them along with two others, the National News Agency said Sunday. The NNA reported that Rabih Deek and Wissam Kahwaji suffered wounds Saturday night when three individuals in a Mercedes 230 attacked them with knives in the main square of Majdalyoun, east of the city of Sidon, in a bid to kidnap them. Youssef Maroun and William Deek, who were accompanying Rabih and Wissam, also escaped kidnapping. Kidnapping for ransom has recently become a regular phenomenon in parts of the country. Several kidnappings took place in the Bekaa last month, with captors demanding huge ransoms. Most of the captives were released in raids conducted by the Army.
