Now Lebanon - Mikati voices surprise at Bellemare’s information requests - March 3, 2011

Prime Minister-designate Najib Mikati on Thursday evening voiced surprise at Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) Prosecutor Daniel Bellemare’s requests for information from Lebanese authorities.
“As far as I know, and according to what is public, the indictment has been handed over [to the pre-trial judge] and this means the end of the investigations,” Mikati told Al-Manar TV.
Mikati added that he is worried about efforts to get the UN Security Council to issue a resolution under Chapter 7 of the UN Charter that would force Lebanon to comply with the information request.
The PM-designate described such efforts as “open attempts” against him.
Mikati also said that “the cabinet formation process is proceeding according to the line drawn out for it without hastiness.”
He continued, “I recognize that there are challenges to my mission that the other side is working hard on. I am dealing seriously with these challenges.
