Now Lebanon - Raad accuses Lebanese parties of smuggling arms to Syria - August 08, 2011

Head of Loyalty to the Resistance bloc MP Mohammad Raad accused “some Lebanese parties” of smuggling weapons to Syrian non-state groups.
“Those Lebanese parties do not want stability for their country,” Raad said during a Sunday Iftar in the Bekaa.
In a reference to the western-backed March 14 coalition’s views on the Syrian crisis, Raad said that “some are gambling on illusions and are misreading the region’s developments.”
The MP also said that Hezbollah is not affected by “rumors and campaigns” launched against the Syrian regime.
Concerning March 14’s calls to hold new national dialogue talks concerning Hezbollah’s arms, Raad said that “those who target the Resistance would be targeting the strength of this country as well as its army [and] people.”
March 14 has been calling for disarming non-state parties, including Hezbollah. However, the Shia group ruled out any dialogue that is to address its weapons.
The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported on Sunday that the Syrian authorities “caught a car coming from Lebanon… and carrying great quantity of ammunition and weapons.”
Syria's government has sought to crush the democracy movement with force, leaving at least 2,059 people dead, including 391 members of the security forces, according to the Syrian Observatory.
