The Lebanese Center for Human Rights (CLDH) is a local non-profit, non-partisan Lebanese human rights organization in Beirut that was established by the Franco-Lebanese Movement SOLIDA (Support for Lebanese Detained Arbitrarily) in 2006. SOLIDA has been active since 1996 in the struggle against arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance and the impunity of those perpetrating gross human violations.

Now Lebanon - General Labor Union rejects Harb’s labor draft law - February 18, 2011

The General Labor Union issued a statement on Thursday rejecting Labor Minister Boutros Harb’s new labor draft law.
The union said the minister’s proposal is against laborers, and added that this proposal would allow employers to explain certain articles their way, thus, widening the gap between employers and employees.
The statement added that the union will file a direct complaint to the International Labor Organization against Harb’s proposal as it violates international labor standards.
Harb’s proposal tackles “the definition of wage”, “termination of labor contracts” and “union rights and freedoms.”
