The Lebanese Center for Human Rights (CLDH) is a local non-profit, non-partisan Lebanese human rights organization in Beirut that was established by the Franco-Lebanese Movement SOLIDA (Support for Lebanese Detained Arbitrarily) in 2006. SOLIDA has been active since 1996 in the struggle against arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance and the impunity of those perpetrating gross human violations.

Daily Star - Spain Wraps Up Effort To Clean Up 2006 Oil Spills

BEIRUT: Spain has wrapped up its campaign to clean up oil spills caused by Israel during the July 2006 war. The project Oil Cleanup and Biodiversity Study of the Natural Reserve of Palm Island was concluded in a ceremony attended by Spain’s ambassador to Lebanon, Juan Carlos Gafo, and Environment Minister Mohammad Rahhal. Nearly 900,000 euros were provided by the Spanish Agency of International Development Cooperation for the project, to be implemented by the Spanish public company TRAGSA, in close collaboration with the Environment Ministry. – The Daily Star
