BEIRUT: A force from the Internal Security Force’s Theft Combating Bureau, assisted by the Lebanese Army, raided several arm depots in the Bekaa Valley towns of Hawr Taala and Brital and arrested 20 people, a well-informed security source told The Daily Star.

In what was described as a “big” operation, the Theft Combating Bureau aided by the army’s fifth battalion and commando forces, and upon orders from the judiciary, raided houses and arms caches in Hawr Taala and Brital, leading to the arrest of 20 wanted individuals, and confiscating 12 cars, six trucks, one motorcycle and 60 plastic bags containing drugs.

Three helicopters assisted forces on the ground, the source said.

The operation also resulted in the confiscation of seven Kalashnikovs, one M16 rifle, one M4 rifle, one Brown rifle, 14 machine guns, and several binoculars. – The Daily Star
