Naharnet - Sayyed Requests that Court Remove Mirza, Rifi, Wissam al-Hasan - September 17, 2010

Former head of Lebanon's General Security Department Maj. Gen. Jamil Sayyed on Friday requested that the Court of Cassation remove State Prosecutor Saeed Mirza, Police chief Gen. Ashraf Rifi and Brig. Gen. Wissam al-Hasan from their posts.
A statement issued by Sayyed's office said he wants Mirza removed "due to the personal rivalry" between them.

Sayyed said his demand for the removal of Rifi and Hasan was that both men work as law enforcers under Mirza.

The statement said Rifi and Hasan are also "defendants in the false witnesses' criminal case."
