Now Lebanon - Nicolas: ISF—Information Branch is a bureau of thugs - September 23, 2010

Free Patriotic Movement MP Nabil Nicolas told New TV on Thursday that the Internal Security Forces (ISF) – Information Branch is a bureau of “thugs [that] has become a danger to the country.”

FPM leader MP Michel Aoun repeatedly called on Lebanese citizens to disregard requests from the ISF—Information Branch and Attorney General Judge Said Mirza.

In a fiery speech on September 5, Aoun criticized the government over media leaks stemming from the ISF—Information Branch’s investigation of retired Brigadier General Fayez Karam—also an FPM official—who was arrested last month on suspicion of collaborating with Israel.

“We will not submit to blackmail and we will not allow [the continued work of] the ISF—Information Branch or Mirza,” Nicolas said.

“I do not know [the identity of] the FPM source that told MTV [on Wednesday] that Aoun knew Karam was collaborating with Israel,” he added.

He also said that “Karam’s lawyer will clarify that [the media reports] are unfounded.”
