Now Lebanon - Sahili: Hariri should seek the real truth - September 23, 2010

Loyalty to the Resistance bloc MP Nawwar Sahili told NBN television on Thursday that Prime Minister Saad Hariri should seek “the real truth” behind the 2005 assassination of his father, former PM Rafik Hariri.

“Is Hariri convinced of the indictment that will be issued [by the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL)]? I doubt he is,” he added.

His comments come as a possible reference to Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah’s claims that Israel assassinated Rafik Hariri. The Hezbollah chief on August 9 presented alleged evidence of the Jewish State’s complicity in the crime, including video footage he said came from Israeli Unmanned Aerial Vehicles monitoring the slain former PM and the alleged confession of an Israeli spy.

“We want to know who was behind the witnesses who gave false testimony [to the international commission investigating the Rafik Hariri murder],” Sahili added.

Tension ran high in Lebanon after reports said that the STL will soon issue its indictment.
