Now Lebanon - March 14 source: Despite March 8 objections, STL funding remains possible

An unnamed March 14 source told As-Sharq al-Awsat newspaper in an interview published on Friday that even if the March 8 alliance members managed to stop Lebanon’s funding of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL), other parties are willing to assist in the tribunal’s funding.

March 14 MPs withdrew from Thursday evening’s session of the Parliamentary Finance and Budget Commission to prevent reaching quorum when March 8 MPs called for voting on a 2010 state budget clause pertaining to Lebanon’s funding of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL), NOW Lebanon’s correspondent reported.

Seven March 8 MPs were present, while six March 14 MPs attended and three others were absent, the correspondent added.

Al-Manar television quoted head of the Parliamentary Finance and Budget Commission MP Ibrahim Kanaan as saying following the meeting that the commission did not approve the 2010 state budget’s STL clause.
