Now Lebanon - March 8 rejected Sayyed summons, Ad-Diyar reports - September 22, 2010

Ad-Diyar newspaper reported on Wednesday that March 8 leaders held a meeting to reject Attorney General Judge Said Mirza’s summons of former General Security chief Jamil as-Sayyed for questioning following his fiery speech earlier in September.

Sayyed criticized Prime Minister Saad Hariri on September 12, saying the premier “should take a lie detector test to prove he did not support or fund false witnesses in the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL).” The former General Security chief also threatened to take his right “with his own hands” if Hariri did not give it to him.

The daily added that the attendees rejected the summons in form and content, saying that the March 8 coalition will do whatever it takes to stop the judiciary from carrying them out.
