The Lebanese Center for Human Rights (CLDH) is a local non-profit, non-partisan Lebanese human rights organization in Beirut that was established by the Franco-Lebanese Movement SOLIDA (Support for Lebanese Detained Arbitrarily) in 2006. SOLIDA has been active since 1996 in the struggle against arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance and the impunity of those perpetrating gross human violations.

August 15, 2010 - Now Lebanon - Jumblatt will face “difficult decision” between Hariri and Nasrallah

Progressive Socialist Party leader Walid Jumblatt will face a “difficult decision” between Prime Minister Saad Hariri and Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah on the issue of cabinet change, an anonymous March 8 source said in the Sunday edition of the Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Anbaa.

Jumblatt plays a key role in cabinet change because of his bloc’s votes in Parliament, the source added.

Any governmental change would aim to create a transitional cabinet “headed by a personality able to refuse [the Special Tribunal for Lebanon’s (STL)] indictment” if it accused Hezbollah, the source also said.

Minister of State for Administrative Reform Mohammad Fneish said Friday that Hezbollah will submit information requested by the STL to the Lebanese authorities, after a press conference last Monday during which Nasrallah showed video footage and the confession of an alleged spy which he said implicate Israel in the assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri.

In July, Nasrallah said that Hariri told him in May that the STL will indict Hezbollah members.
