The Lebanese Center for Human Rights (CLDH) is a local non-profit, non-partisan Lebanese human rights organization in Beirut that was established by the Franco-Lebanese Movement SOLIDA (Support for Lebanese Detained Arbitrarily) in 2006. SOLIDA has been active since 1996 in the struggle against arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance and the impunity of those perpetrating gross human violations.

August 16, 2010 - Now Lebanon - Hariri and Berri addressed gridlock over STL

Al-Hayat newspaper reported on Monday that Prime Minister Saad Hariri and Speaker Nabih Berri addressed the current domestic political gridlock over the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) during their Sunday meeting in Ain al-Tineh.

The daily said that the Berri-Hariri meeting came as part of Berri’s efforts to resolve disputes between Lebanese parties over STL-related issues.

Tension is high in Lebanon after reports said that the tribunal will soon issue its indictment in the 2005 Rafik Hariri assassination. Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah recently claimed his party members would be named in the STL’s pending indictment.

The Hezbollah chief presented during a press conference last Monday footage he said came from Israeli Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) monitoring Rafik Hariri and a confession from a suspected Israeli spy.
