Now Lebanon - Almost all Palestinians in Lebanon hold on to right of return, group reports

According to a poll by the Palestinian Association for Human Rights (Witness), 90.6 percent of Palestinian refugees in Lebanon support the right of return, the National News Agency (NNA) reported on Monday.

74.8 percent of the Palestinians in Lebanon think that the Lebanese government will not grant them rights, even if the state controls Palestinian arms inside and out of the refugee camps.

The issue of Palestinian rights sparked debate after Democratic Gathering bloc leader MP Walid Jumblatt submitted a proposal to parliament on June 15 to grant Palestinian refugees in Lebanon civil rights. The majority of Christian MPs voted against the bill.

The poll also mentioned that 81.2 percent of the Palestinians are pessimistic about the upcoming August 17 parliamentary session, which is set to tackle parliamentary blocs’ proposals on the issue of Palestinians in Lebanon.

The Palestinian Association for Human Rights (Witness) also reported the 88.7 percent of the Palestinians described as unjust the statements of MPs opposing granting the refugees rights.
