The Lebanese Center for Human Rights (CLDH) is a local non-profit, non-partisan Lebanese human rights organization in Beirut that was established by the Franco-Lebanese Movement SOLIDA (Support for Lebanese Detained Arbitrarily) in 2006. SOLIDA has been active since 1996 in the struggle against arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance and the impunity of those perpetrating gross human violations.

ILoubnan - Mashnouq discusses domestic violence issue with KAFA, April 17, 2014

Minister of Interior and Municipalities Nuhad Al-Mashnouq met on Wednesday with a delegation of KAFA Association headed by lawyer Leila Awada who explained that "the meeting came after a recommendation launched by the Minister of Interior whereby he urged security forces to deal firmly with files related to domestic violence."

"Discussions focused on promoting the role of security forces in the fight against crimes of domestic violence through the creation of specialized centers for the reception of women and children victims of domestic violence in all governorates of Lebanon," she said.

On a different note, Minister Mashbouq held a meeting with the Prisons Committee in the presence of representatives of the Internal Security Forces and the Council for Development and Construction, with talks touching on mechanisms of financing the implementation of projects and the establishment of new prisons in several regions of Lebanon, in coordination with civil society and businessmen able to find quick solutions to the current problems.

Conferees discussed the preparations to launch a media campaign to raise the necessary funding for the rehabilitation of existing prisons.
